Q - Who are you?
I am Mike Batty, a freelance photographer based near the Cheshire town of Macclesfield. I am a member of the Bureau of Freelance Photographers.
Q - Are you available for events and commercial work?
Yes, Shared Earth Photography will cover events and undertake commercial work. For examples of previous work please visit the events and commercial galleries. For more information feel free to contact Shared Earth Photography.
Q - How much do you charge for events and commercial work?
A basic shoot starts at just £100 plus expenses. This covers the hours worked on location and processing time at the office, a CD of images, and your own gallery on the website. Your gallery can be password protected if required.
Q - When will the photos from my event/commission be ready?
Images will start to go on your own gallery within 24-48 hours of the shoot. The CD of images will be dispatched after a further 24-48 hours.
Q - Can I buy prints of your images?
Almost all of Shared Earth Photography's images can be bought as prints. To make a purchase simply browse to your desired image and add the relevant item to the shopping basket. Once finished, proceed through the independent shopping cart facility to place your order. Your order will be managed by an independent printing company and they will send your order to you direct.
All prices can be found on the page of the images.
Q - What does cropping mean during the checkout process?
The majority of Shared Earth Photography's images have an aspect ratio of 6 x 4. These images can be printed at the 6 x 4", 12 x 8", and 18 x 12" print sizes without any parts of the image being chopped off.
If you choose another print size (such as 7 x 5") certain parts of the image will be cut off because the aspect ratios of the image and print are different.
You can choose which parts of the image are cropped during the checkout process by moving the orange rectangle.
Q - The print size I want says 'Insufficient photo resolution', what does this mean?
If the original file size of the image you want to print is too small for your chosen print size then you will see this notice displayed. Please choose a smaller print size or contact us to see if there is a larger file size available.
Q - What methods of payment are accepted?
Major credit cards are accepted including VISA, Mastercard, American Express, and Paypal.
Q - What name will I see on my credit card statement?
The credit card transaction will be listed under the name "ZENFOLIO".
Q - How much do you charge for postage?
Postage charges will vary depending on the chosen shipping method, destination, and weight of the order. The charges are calculated by the independent shopping cart facility and can be modified before finalising your order.
Q - When will my order arrive?
With the exception of framed products (see below), dispatch is normally within 48 hours.
Q - Do you offer a framing service?
Shared Earth Photography offers a framing service on a collection of prints in the framed photograph galleries. If the image you require isn't in these galleries, please contact us and we will be happy to supply it.
Please note that orders for framed products will be handled directly by Shared Earth Photography who undertake the framing process. Payment is therefore made via Paypal through the standard shopping cart facility. The turnaround for framed products is 7-10 days from placing the order.
Shared Earth Photography is currently only accepting UK based orders for framed products.
Q - Do you offer any other types of merchandise?
Shared Earth Photography offers a range of items for almost all its images including canvas prints, mousemats, mugs, coasters, placemats, and bookmarks
Q - Will the watermark be displayed on my product?
No. The watermark will be removed prior to the printing process and is only displayed on online images as additional protection against copyright theft.
Q - Why can't I add certain images to the shopping cart?
While most images are available for purchase there are a small number which aren't. These photos will not have the 'add to cart' button displayed next to them. There are several reasons why a photograph isn't available for purchase (e.g. a client has already bought the rights for that image).
Please contact us if an image doesn't have the 'add to cart' button and we will reply with details of its availability.
Q - My question isn't answered here, what should I do?
Please feel free to contact us and we will answer your enquiry as soon as possible.
